It was 6am Sunday morning and Ben Berger was at Eberhart-Petro Golf Course working.

He's the golf pro at the Mishawaka course so working on the weekends is normal.

But not many expected him to be there on this Sunday, considering Berger had just golfed 527 holes over the course of 16 hours the day before, to raise money and awareness for Autism.

"I had a couple of outings to take care of," Berger told Newscenter 16 Monday afternoon.

Berger did leave just after 9am on Sunday, but the mere fact that he was capable of getting out of bed was impressive enough.

Berger golfed from 5:35 Saturday morning until 9:20pm that night, raising more than $38,000 for the Regional Center for Autism at Logan.

"A lot of the credit goes to my chiropractor," Berger admits about his speedy recovery.

Ben's doctor was on call Saturday night and immediately gave Berger treatment at the course following his 16 hour golf marathon.

Berger completed 29 rounds, lost eight pounds and had was having major trouble with his knees on Saturday.

But two days later, he says he up to 85 percent. He says his knees are fine, his body feels ok and that he only has about four blisters on his feet.

He worked Monday too by the way. He did say he has a light work week ahead before getting to a full schedule on the weekend.

Ben finished the day with the 96 birdies and three eagles. Midway through the day, he produced a round of 63.

Berger's amazing 527 hole performance was his best in the three years of "Par for the Cause." In 2006, he golfed 437 holes and last year, he finished 508.

He plans to do even more next year.
