Notre Dame’s head football coach, Charlie Weis, has been named to the Presidential Committee for people with intellectual disabilities.
Weis will serve a two-year term on the 13-member group.
The committee advises the President and the Secretary of Health and Human Services on issues involving citizens and their families with intellectual disabilities.
Weis said on Friday that he is honored to be appointed to the committee and will use his voice to help raise awareness for those who have special needs in our country.
Weis and his wife Maura started the foundation Hannah and Friends, in honor of their special needs daughter, to help others who have family members with special needs.
