More jobs are coming to Whirlpool Corp.'s refrigerator plant in Middle Amana in eastern Iowa.

The Benton Harbor, Mich.-based company says it's hiring 120 workers to meet demand for new models and staffing issues caused by summer vacations.

Spokeswoman Monica Teague says the new hires are in addition to the 170 workers already hired this year at Middle Amana. Whirlpool employs more than 2,000 at the plant, which was part of the company's acquisition of Newton, Iowa-based Maytag in 2006.

The Middle Amana plant produces bottom-freezer refrigerators sold under Whirlpool, Amana, Maytag and other brand names.
