It has been a long road to Primary Day for gubernatorial candidate Jill Long Thompson.
She says she has been on the road for weeks trying to reach out to Indiana voters, and it seems her push may have worked.
Recent polls show Long Thompson beating Jim Schellinger by almost 20-points.
Today, Long Thompson cast her ballot just down the road from her home, at the First Baptist Church in Argos.
She says there is a wild card at play in this race: all the first-time voters who are heading to the polls because of the Obama-Clinton contest.
"They've probably made their minds up earlier regarding the presidential, but it's not clear how they will be voting in the gubernatorial. So, while I'm cautiously optimistic, I certainly don't take anything for granted,” said Long Thompson.
After her hometown stop, Long Thompson headed to Fort Wayne where she will join campaign supporters for an election night watch party at the Wayne Center.
If Long Thompson wins the race, a campaign staffer says they will be in Indianapolis launching the attack on uncontested incumbent, Governor Mitch Daniels.
