Police are investigating an early morning shooting by a security guard at a South Bend convenience store.

It happened just after 2:00 Thursday morning at V&K convenience on Lincolnway West just west of downtown.

The security guard asked a man to leave and when he wouldn't—police say a fight broke out and the guard shot the man in the leg.

The injured man was taken to the hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.

Edgar/Mishawaka, Good job of missing the point. The security guard didn't just pull out his gun and shoot the guy because he wouldn't leave. He ended up shooting him during a struggle caused by the idiot that wouldn't leave. It's called self defense. And if someone is dumb enough to get drunk and attack a cop/security guard ANYWHERE they risk the chance of having deadly force used on them. Get a clue!

Entertaining that people applaud the shooting of a citizen. Deadly force because he wouldn't leave? Far too much and there wasn't a crime committed. I'm betting all those in support would change their tune if they were drunk at a Notre Dame game and things got out of hand and an officer shot them. But...you didn't stop to think of that now did you? What else can you expect in this backwater state.

The security guard deserves a raise for doing his job. Congratulations on a job well done!

Guess that will be a lesson learned for the person shot. I think the security guard was just doing his job.

Good for the Security Guard! I work in a convience store, myself and sometimes wish I had a Security Guard to stay with me. I realize that times are tough right now, what with fuel prices, food prices and so forth. People are feeling angry and desperate..But, being difficult, obnoxious or stealing is not going to help anything and will only make life worse for the person involved.
