Police in Berrien County are investigating a single-car crash that left one man dead.

The accident happened around 7:00 Saturday night at Bailey Road and Townhall Road, just north of Eau Claire.

Police say the vehicle went off the road and hit several trees.

Forty-year-old Daniel Lloyd Blankenship was killed in the crash.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

At this time, police tell us Blankenship was not wearing a seatbelt, and that speed and alcohol may have played a role in the crash.

To those idiots who have the nerve to say they have feelings for the family,Howcould you be so cold hearted to call this loving father, husband, friend any kind of name,You have no sympathy for this family. If you did you would watch what you call such a loving person.SO grow up.

To those of you who can be so heartless to call this man an idiot. You do not know Daniel, and what a loving father,Husband and friend he was.Daniel was respected by all who met him.So to those who do not know him you need to SHUT-UP.My thoughts and prayers are with his family as they grieve. And as of today NO ALCOHOL was found. So know the facts before you speak!!!!

My true condolences go out to this family. I am sure words cannot express your grief at this time. Please try to ignore the heartless comments left by the idiots here. There is a group of them that post their hatred and fear of the world all the time. Please try to ignore them as you grieve for your loved one.

If you anon's so strongly believe in what you're posting, then why be cowards about not using your name. You people aren't saints and you all know you've done it at least once. You've all told yourself and others that you were okay to drive when you weren't. You didn't know Dan or his family, so don't be hypocrites and judge.

Wow, what a sad story this is. The first writer just proves how little value is placed on human life these days. Obviously the driver didn't understand or regard life either...a sad story all around.

That's just harsh and heartless.

I'm sorry for the family's loss-may they all have good memories to share as they grieve. But, gee, it isn't much of a surprise, is it? Drinking and driving costing another life, I mean. At least this time it wasn't an innocent bystander. I hope at least one person out there learns from this and makes the responsible choice to stay sober- or hand over the keys.

Thank you Anon for saying exactly what I was thinking. If you want to drink and drive, then not wear a seatbelt and get into a cer wreck, it's a self fulfilling prophecy. I'm just happy no one else died, or was injured because of his stupidity. My condolences to his family, now if he has brothers or sisters(or kids) maybe they'll wear their seatbelts and not drink and drive......Hopefully. My Grandfather died in 1946 when a dumb drunk, behind the wheel of a car, slammed into the car my grandparents were in. DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE AND WEAR YOUR SEATBELT! Is that clear enough?

Ditto! Anyone who is stupid enough to get behind the wheel of a car deserves what they get! At least no one else was hurt or killed along with the idiot. My thoughts are with the family...as I am sure they have enough humilation to deal with.

It's my understanding that speed was verified but not Alcohol!!! Before we make fool's of our selves we should know the facts. As of today's reports NO- I repeat No Alcohol was found!!! UMMMMM

Well, another fine example of what drinking and driving and not wearing a seat belt can do. I'm sorry for his family, but have no sympathy for him
