It's a decision that isn't sitting well with the community.

Wednesday night the South Bend School district decided not to allow Hillary Clinton to make a campaign stop at Washington High School.

The decision comes after the secret service already made a visit to the high school and developed plans.

Thursday Washington High's hallways were busy with talk of shock and outrage after learning they would not be seeing the former first lady.

Students say it's a missed chance to talk about important events and watch history unfold.

School board member Bill Sniadecki is the only school board member who voted informally in favor of Hillary's visit.

The other six school board member did not support a visit from the presidential candidate.

“The school corporation isn't supposed to be political but it turns out to be political. I think it is a complete disappointment to me and that is the big response I have got from the community,” says Sniadecki.

"Here we have an opportunity to get involved, to become educated... it's gone!" agrees Washington High School teacher Frank Amato.

Dr. Zimmerman's office did send out a statement claiming this event could have been a risk for student safety plus political campaigning in a school is against the district's policy.

Although the school board members were given a chance to vote on Clinton’s visit it was ultimately Zimmerman’s decision at to whether or not her request would be accepted.
