One young Elkhart resident not only plans to go to the polls, he plans to vote for himself.

Michael Montagano is 26-years-old and he's running for Congress unopposed as the Democratic candidate in Indiana’s third district.

I feel like this is a unique opportunity for a new generation of leadership—a choice between the past and future, and this is our time. It's unacceptable to wait ten twenty or thirty more years to solve the problems that have the potential to crush our nation,” says Attorney Michael Montagano (D) Indiana’s 3rd district candidate.

Montagano is an attorney with some experience in government. He worked for former Congressman Tim Roemer and former Lt. Governor Joe Kernan.

Montagano will run against Republican incumbent Mark Souder in Indiana’s third Congressional district.

Dan from Mishawaka...same ole, same ole? Have you even taken the time to meet this young man? I have and I think that he has wisdom beyond his years. Besides you would think that perhaps you would want a lawyer in the office that you can trust and I think that Michael is that person. Sometimes it is good to have a lawyer in those positions that really understand the law and the way it works. Not always but that is usually best. The problem in the past is the trust issue. I think Michael is a person we can trust . I also think he speaks from the heart about the issues that affect this great state and about what he plans to do to try to fix those issues. Good luck Michael.

Michael has the leadership qualities USA has missed for many years... honesty, trust, intelligence, energy, family honors, and the ability to lead by example. A vote for Michael is a vote for an outstanding representative for Indiana's future. mlm

It is not necessary to be photogenic to be a successful politician (see Henry Waxman) but it helps. The reasons why so many lawyers run for office? Attorneys are used to speaking to crowds/large audiences, you need quite a bit of your own money to run for office and you need a lot of contacts. It's not as easy as it looks.

Good luck man. While you're there why don't you see about some term limits for Congressmen/Senators?

Refreshing! More young people need to get themselves involved in politics. The status quo is not working!

Michael is a great guy and a great candidate. Young, energetic, photogenic and a very bright individual. He is going to give Souder a real run for his seat. This is a race to watch. Along with the 6th district (Pence vs. Barry Welsh) and the 7th (Andre Carson vs a cast of thousands) this could be the sleeper in Indiana in '08.
