We've made it halfway through Indiana's legislative session and there's a lot more than property taxes being talked about at the statehouse.
State Representative Jackie Walorski says she is happy to see a bill she sponsored pass the house and now move onto the senate.
She calls it the "stop killing cops" bill.
The bill would require the death penalty or life in prison for any person convicted of killing a police officer on or off duty.
“I think this is just a chance to send a message to schools and our culture up here that says we have zero tolerance on this. I think that goes a long way,” says Walorski.
Instead of counties the state of Indiana would pay for the cost of prosecuting these crimes.
