The much anticipated gas price jump hit Michiana on Wednesday as prices jumped at least a quarter around the area.
Prices are now averaging about $3.69 per gallon around South Bend. A gallon of unleaded gas cost $3.45 on Wedneday morning.
GasBuddy.com says the base price that stations pay jumped in Chicago, which sends prices higher all across the Great Lakes region.
Gas Buddy says do not expect any relief. Its analysts think the national average will spike over the next week because of a refinery fire in Washington state and increasing tensions in the Middle East.
