Dozens of RV workers are accused of unemployment fraud.

Monday Goshen based Keystone RV fired 46 workers accused of drawing two paychecks, one from the state and another from the company.

Former Keystone RV worker, Jessey Haab, says he filed for unemployment when the plant shut down during Christmas for two weeks. Yet he kept getting benefits from the state but claims he eventually paid them back when he realized there was a mistake.

“I guess people do it all the time, but I don't do it,” says Haab. “So I don't know why I lost my job over it, a mistake.”

Monday along with 45 others he was fired for fraud.

Keystone spent a year investigating the situation before calling people in Monday morning to inform they were accused of unlawfully taking unemployment checks.

“We were analyzing the benefits of the statement to ensure that those that were collecting the unemployment were actually eligible,” says Keystone’s Human Resources Manager Tim Edwards. “It was that point that we discovered that there were some individuals that were working and active employees and collecting benefits at the same time.”

According to the Department of Workforce Development a person receiving state benefits must sign off on a voucher every week to continue to receive benefits. The person will click yes or no when asked about their employment status.

Both officials from Keystone and DWD said the benefits would not continue unless a person willing accepted the checks by logging into a computer.
