The swimming ban has been lifted at both Silver Beach in St. Joseph, Mich. and Grand Beach in New Buffalo, Mich.
Berrien County Parks officials said that a routine test found coli form bacteria in the water there. The tests show the level of the bacteria in Lake Michigan off Silver Beach was slightly above safe standards.
The ban marks the first time either beach has been closed this year due to contamination.
