The South Bend Fire Department is investigating a blaze that destroyed a building near downtown.

It happened around 3:30 Monday afternoon at the intersection of Lafayette and Sample.

The building is owned by Hamilton Towing, which has a service center next door.

Until it was recently cleaned out, the building was used to store parts and cars.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.

No one was injured, but the building is a total loss.
