An employee with the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City has been arrested for trafficking drugs.
41-year-old Phyllis Ungerank, a practical nurse with Corizon Medical, was arrested for trying to traffic marijuana and for possessing marijuana.
Officials say around 8 p.m. on March 18, a check-point officer found Ungerank trying to take a package of marijuana inside the jail with her.
She was arrested and taken to the LaPorte County Jail.
Trafficking of marijuana carries a sentence of up to eight years years in prison and $10,000 in fines. Possessing marijuana carries a sentence of up to three years and $10,000 in fines.
