Indiana's Public Housing Authorities will receive federal grants totaling more than $21.5 million, to make large-scale improvements to public housing units all throughout the state.
The funds come from the US Department of Housing and Urban Development, and are awarded annually to housing authorities throughout the nation.
The money will be used to build, repair and renovate public housing in the state, and keep the units safe and livable for families.
That's good news for housing authorities in South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart and Michigan City which are among those that will benefit from these grants.
