Indiana State Police say they've found the body of a man who fled on foot from an exchange of gunfire with a trooper during a traffic stop.
Capt. Dave Bursten says 35-year-old John Michael Fish died of apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound.
State police say the body was spotted by helicopter Wednesday afternoon in a remote area several hundred yards west of Interstate 65 and north of U.S. 50 near Seymour, about 50 miles south of Indianapolis.
Police had said Fish fled Monday night after shooting at the trooper. Neither person was injured during the exchange.
Indiana Department of Correction records show Fish was paroled in September 2010 after a 2004 robbery conviction. He had prior convictions for robbery, criminal confinement, burglary and attempted burglary.
