TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) - A homework hotline that helps Indiana
middle and high school students perplexed by their math and science
assignments has won a $1.8 million grant to keep going for the next
three years.

Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology announced Monday that the
Lilly Endowment grant would continue through 2014 the program that
links students at the Terre Haute engineering college with those
needing help through a toll-free phone line and online resources.

Rose-Hulman says the hotline that started in 1991 received about
45,000 calls during the last school year and tutors conducted
nearly 3,000 online sessions. The school says it has more than 30
tutors available Sunday through Thursday nights to answer questions
at 1-877-ASK-ROSE or through www.AskRose.org.
