Managers say construction work on the Indiana Convention Center expansion is about 60 percent complete nearly a year after the RCA Dome was imploded to make way for the project.

Construction manager Tom Scheele says work is on schedule for completion by early 2011 in downtown Indianapolis.

Major work on the $275 million expansion started soon after rubble from the RCA Dome's implosion last December was hauled away. The project will nearly double the convention center's size and put Indianapolis 16th among U.S. cities in convention space.

The first event scheduled for the expanded center is a motorcycle and ATV industry trade show expected to draw 36,000 people.
