A group that pays low-income seniors to work with nonprofit agencies is trying to get more people involved in the program in southern Indiana.
Experience Works is a national group that uses federal subsidies to provide part-time jobs for workers age 55 and older.
About 35 people are involved with the program in Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Jefferson, Switzerland and Ripley counties. Rhonda Kidd is leading the effort in those counties and wants more people to join the program. She says some seniors can use the extra income, and nonprofit groups appreciate the help.
The YMCA of Southern Indiana says it likes the chance to add dependable, hardworking helpers without adding to its payroll.
