An explosion at a southwestern Indiana plastics factory startled area residents, but the company says its staff took care of it.
The explosion happened Tuesday at Sabic Innovative Plastics in Mount Vernon. Company spokeswoman Shelia Nabb says the plant's emergency response team was able to extinguish the fire and declined help from outside agencies.
Posey County emergency management Larry Robb says no one was taken to the hospital from the factory and that there was no risk to the public
Nabb said the cause of the fire and explosion was under investigation and that work resumed in other parts of the factory after about an hour.
