A former Indiana pastor and his sons have pleaded not guilty to charges they bilked church members out of millions of dollars intended for church construction projects.
A Sullivan County judge appointed defense attorneys Wednesday for 65-year-old Vaughn Reeves, 40-year-old Chris and 32-year-old Josh. The oldest son, 44-year-old Chip, is being represented by attorneys Jim Voyles of Indianapolis and Nick Thiros of Merrillville.
The Associated Press left messages seeking comment at the attorneys' offices.
The men are accused of duping about 11,000 people into buying bonds for church construction projects, diverting money from new investments to pay off prior investors in a Ponzi scheme and pocketing about $6 million.
All four men are being held in Sullivan County Jail on $1.5 million cash bond.
