Officials say Visteon Corp.'s decision to file for bankruptcy protection has complicated efforts to attract a new business to a closed eastern Indiana factory.
Connersville leaders have been trying to buy the 1.6 million-square-foot plant that Visteon closed in 2007 so they can offer it to Carbon Motors Corp. of Atlanta, which is considering sites to build high-tech police cars.
The Economic Development Group of Fayette County's executive director says Carbon Motors has set a July 10 deadline to pick a location and must name that site on a federal loan application due July 31.
Bryan Coats tells the Palladium-Item of Richmond that there are worries that action can't be taken quickly enough on the Connersville plant with Visteon in bankruptcy court.
