A northern Indiana man took his wife and children out of their home after it became filled with carbon monoxide.
Authorities believe the poisonous gas resulted from a blocked chimney on the Amish family's coal-burning stove.
Joe Wolf of the Richland Township Fire Department says firefighters and medics responded early Thursday to the home in southwest Whitley County after the man found his wife unconscious on the floor. He took her from the house and then went back for the children.
Two of the eight occupants were unconscious and were taken to a hospital after medics arrived.
No law enforcement personnel were involved and the names, ages and conditions of the victims were not available.
