Purdue might join Indiana University in making admission requirements so high that students earning basic high school diplomas in Indiana might not be accepted.
Purdue officials are considering requiring students to take four years of high school. The state only requires students in the class of 2010 and beyond to take three years of math to earn a basic diploma.
Vice Provost Christine Ladisch says Purdue wants to discuss the matter with high school officials first.
New admission standards at I-U beginning in 2011 will require at least three and a half years of math at least two years of a foreign language.
