Indiana wants Preliminary SAT to help boost test scores
Indian wants more high school students to take a preparatory version of the SAT, so it is covering the cost of the exam

Indian wants more high school students to take a preparatory version of the SAT, so it is covering the cost of the exam.
The Indiana Department of Education says it will pay the $13 fee for students to take the Preliminary SAT, or PSAT.
The exam prepares students for the SAT, an important exam for college admissions.
Those students who take the PSAT average higher scores on the SAT than those who did not take the preliminary test.
In past years the state has paid for the PSAT for some students, including those from low-income families.
