Tippecanoe County authorities say a crop-dusting helicopter crashed into a cornfield as the pilot was spraying insecticide.
The pilot was able to walk away from the Thursday afternoon crash near the town of Buck Creek, a few miles east of Lafayette. The Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Department says pilot John Wahl of Pendleton, Ore., dumped most of the insecticide as part of the emergency landing procedure.
Nearby resident Rita Darnell says Wahl walked out of the field and asked to use her home's garden hose to wash chemicals from his eyes.
