With less than 48 hours until the polls open, Hillary Clinton made her fifth visit to the area in as many weeks on Sunday.

She gave a short speech, before asking the crowd to try to drum up some extra support.

The speech was meant to “rally the troops,” sending supporters out to canvas neighborhoods over the next two days.

Clinton says her campaign's made a lot of progress in Indiana, but says she's still the “underdog” in Tuesday's primary.

She says it's going to be an important push to the end.

It was a smaller crowd than the senator has seen in her past visits, but the excitement was still there.

“Stay with me, work with me, and let’s make history on Tuesday,” Clinton yelled over the cheering crowd of 200-300 people.

Clinton hit on most of the hot topics in a 20 minute speech, from the war in Iraq, to education, to the struggling economy.

She brazenly stood by her proposal to suspend the gas tax, which has drawn so much criticism in the past week.

“I am unabashed. I am unapologetic. I am going to fight for the middle class, and I am going to take on the oil companies, and everybody else who's had it their way for way too long,” Clinton said.

Clinton defended her plan to suspend the gas tax, which has been so controversial; by saying it would save truckers $2 billion, which would in turn lower prices at the grocery store.

She said it wasn't a "gimmick" as Senator Obama had coined it, but rather a short term solution until they can find a long-term fix.

She had a request for the crowd amidst the excitement of the final days.

“I hope that you will do everything that you can in next 2 days to reach as many voters as possible,” Clinton said.

Rachel Tomas-Morgan and her children enlisted in that push, heading out to canvas as a family, after the speech.

“It really shows that, generationally, we support her and my husband as well; and so it’s not just women for Hillary its children for Hillary,” Tomas-Morgan said.

“It’s very inspirational to see her and then go out canvassing and talking to people and seeing what other people have to say too,” said Tomas-Morgan’s 12-year-old daughter Sarah.

Supporters hope Clinton's appeal can span generations, to pick up some crucial votes come Tuesday.

“It’s wonderful to have her run and I think she’s the smartest person to do it,” said 74-year-old Faye Benjamin, a Hillary supporter.

“I think she is the best person for the job, and we really need somebody like her in the White House,” said Tomas-Morgan’s 7-year-old son Benjamin.

For many in the crowd, it was the second, third or fourth time to see Clinton, and there's been plenty of opportunities lately.

There's no word yet on whether she'll be back again by Tuesday.

Hillary Clinton sat down with WNDU’s Maureen McFadden for a one-on-one interview, which we will feature throughout Newscenter 16 on Monday.

WNDU cand you please ask Hillary why did she lie about being in the midst of firearms? The footage that we saw did not show her running from gun fire at all. Lieing may get you in but what happens when you get in. IF you have to lie to get what you want you have to continue to lie to keep it. Now what do you think about that? Her campaign is nothing but lies.

May 7, at 3:10 PM, Hillary would make a terrible president. It's not because she's a woman. It's because she is not qualified.

We are all missing one very important point. Do we really think that the other world leaders will take us seriously with a woman in office? Before you assault my thoughts, I am a woman that believes a woman can do anything a man can do, but it is easy for me to say that. I was raised to believe that to be true. Unfortunately, we have no choice but to know that the US is one of the only countries to raise their children with that belief! What are we thinking? Remember, I don't agree with it but it is fact!

Carolyn, didn't change my mind. We're not voting for RevWright. Besides, that Sowell cat doesn't have any street cred with me. Right-on Kat, if we have to vote for Hill, so be it. If she doesn't drop out soon though, her followers are going to go to order up a McVote.

If you are a Republican – vote the Republican Ticket. If you are a Democrat – vote the Democrat Ticket. Stay true to your Party! Do not abandon your party just to miss-with the democratic race. Everything will workout and the right leaders will be chosen to run for President.

I will be voting first time, and my vote goes to Obama. He is the one who will put this country back together. The job needs to accomplish in order to put this country way it was is overwhelming, he cannot do it overnight. But, he is the one who can carry us to a better future. I believe in someone outside of the usual White House politics. Therefore, Obama gets my vote…

We could sure use a leader with more than war on the agenda. I just talked with former President B. Clinton after his speech and am impressed with him, i wish i could afford to travel again to listen to Hillary and/or Chelsea. Maybe they should be the first family to have three people as Presidents. I believe they may be the best for the job. They have been in the white house and around the block so maybe they know what it takes to do things for us all. I for one have seen so much going on and the world's complicated situations I admire them for the things that they are doing with people. I gave Bill a product that is being made here in Northern Indiana, it has been approved to test market with Wal*Mart it would start a recovery for the poorest County in Indiana, Bill told me how to reach him via e-mail and may help us here now. It costs millions to make world reaching exports..Banks and manufactures/packagers etc.. are ready, we need capitol investments Love Peace workwithusa@yahoo

Posted by: craig Location: northern indiana on May 5, 2008 at 06:01 PM
I met Bill the other day after listening to what he had to say for the Hillary ways. I might vote for her / them. As a businessman with new products to make here in the USA I could use the connections that Pres. Clinton put in place as he was president of the USA. She obviously is a very good person to have in power to make changes and keep us strong..maybe a better reputation globally if we export peace and peaceful products! RelaxCo

Caroline hell of a reason to pick a President. And Carolyn thank you that is what I have been saying for a while now. He is a racist and very dishonest. And Willie watch the news already he did have an interview with WNDU. Help us all if Obama gets in office if you think it is ad now just wait. This an has no intentions on helping the middle class people.

Posted by: Anonymous on May 5, 2008 at 04:03 PM
There's going to be a lot of people not at all happy tomorrow evening. It's going to be great!

Posted by: Anonymous on May 5, 2008 at 03:24 PM
O'Bama? Is he Irish?

Posted by: Willie Location: Niles on May 5, 2008 at 03:22 PM
Why no interview with Obama? Or McCain? Is WNDU endorsing Hillary? Will they continue to do so after McCain-Feingold restrictions on everyone else's free speech kick in this fall? I guess time will tell. Oh, and Mary Moonbat: Hillary cares about the lower and middle classes only enough to stay far, far above them...

WNDU tried to secure an interview with Senator Obama but his campaign was unable to clear his schedule for a sitdown while he was in Michiana. WNDU did an interview with the Senator via satellite earlier. -WNDU.com

This woman just make me want to throw up, does she really think we are all that stupid?

Posted by: Carolyn Location: Niles, Michigan on May 5, 2008 at 02:37 PM
To M location V I think you need to get on your computer and read the story by Thomas Sowell that tells the real story of Mr Obama he is liar and a racist. He still mentors with Rev Wright. He has given his church over $20,000.00. Why would you want to put someone who hate white people in the office we already have one bad President now do we really need another who is worse. I'm sorry I am a Hillary support after reading this story because I found out the Mr Obama doesn't tell the truth in the Senate let alone to the American people and it comes down between him and McCain trust I would vote for McCain in a heart beat. But the article is called Race and Polictics read it you'll change your mind I did.

Posted by: Caroline Location: South Bend on May 5, 2008 at 02:05 PM
M, I agree. Hillary and Chelsea give me a stomach ache. I want to see a handsome man like Obama in office. He'll be a great President and a good basketball player too.

Posted by: Byron Location: Mishawaka on May 5, 2008 at 01:27 PM
I think that it is unfair that WNDU has decided to interview only Hillary Chilton and not both. Just goes to show who they are voting for!

If there's not a "find some better choices" checkbox at the polls, O'bama is my choice. You've got to consider the Dorothy effect. If you see here face over and over will it make you sick to your stomach? I've already got the syndrome. Mary, are you really Chelsea?

To all the Clinton supporters(Mary Hardy):What exactly is her long list of accomplishments? National health care(no)? Middle East peace(no)? She's beating a dead horse folks. She cannot win the nomination, only play spoiler, and cost the Dems the presidency. It is time to exit stage left, Hillary. Your time has come and gone, and now you can go back to casting bad votes(the 2002 vote to go to war in Iraq) in the Senate. McCain will walk into the White House if Hillary continues to do what she's doing...and one final point. She is the elitist who cherry picked a senate seat(Guliani would have won if he stayed in the race), made 109.7 million dollars with BJ Bill, and only paid social security on about 2 million of their earnings. How does being raise by a single mom(dad ran off) and your grandparents make you an elitist? Hillary's family grew up in the FIP suburbs of Chicago, and her dad owned a business. Now who's the elitist? Please leave the race Hillbilly. Please.

Posted by: Chaz Location: South Bend on May 5, 2008 at 08:50 AM
Obama? Silver Spoon? What? This from a woman that made $110 million in the past 10 years and now wants to say that the guy with 5 suits is an elitist? Please. She's as elitist as they come.

Posted by: Andy Location: South Bend on May 4, 2008 at 08:40 PM
I hope Hillary wins. She has the experience and expertise to run this country.

Posted by: Susan Location: South Bend on May 4, 2008 at 08:03 PM
To Mary Hardy... What are you talking about saying Obama was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth??? He was raised by a single mother and worked his way through school. As for me, Hillary admits she failed at health care reform, She brought us managed health care which added an additional layer of bureauracy in the doctors office and at the insurance company. The cost of THIS raised our health insurance premiums to the level most of us cannot afford and got us in the mess we are in now. And she cost me job when she did it. She has been in Congress for many years after... Did she ever try to fix her mistake??? NO!!! Am I bitter???? Yes, I am bitter against Hillary as well as Bill who let it happen under his watch... When he wasn't watching Monica... The Clinton years were not a Utopia and I am not willing to go back to them. If Hillary get elected it will be the same old politics as usual. I do hope most people in IN are smarter than that.

Here's Hillary's support base: like Mary Hardy, who says Hillary has a proven "tract" record. That's right Mary, just because you think she'll help you out of your sorry lot in life. Try reading a little and bettering yourself instead of praying for the gov't lottery at night, Hon.

Get use to seeing her! As our next prez. We will come to love her!!!!!!

Posted by: Mary Hardy Location: Huntington Beach, CA on May 3, 2008 at 08:56 AM
Hope the people in Indiana and NC will vote for the only candidate that is willing to help the lower and middle class - Hillary Clinton. She has a proven tract record that can be verified. What do we really know about Obama?? Most of it is very disturbing for a man that ask you to put your life in his hands as President. Obama was born with a "silver spoon" in his mouth and knows nothing about striving to make a living. We have already had 8 years of Bush, who was born into the "Elite" group with his silver spoon and look what a mess he got this Country into. THINK TWICE ABOUT VOTING FOR OBAMA....AND VOTE ONCE FOR CLINTON.

She's like a cold sore. Not very pretty, keeps coming back.
