A train wreck snarled traffic in Starke County Saturday morning near E. Division St. & N 300 E., northwest of Knox.
911 dispatchers tell NewsCenter 16 around 9:15 EDT, a Norfolk Southern freight train crashed into a Norfolk Southern repair vehicle parked along a set of parallel tracks.
The repairman, who was outside his truck making track repairs at the time, was uninjured. While the moments leading-up to impact are still unclear, it appears there was a miscommunication as to what set of tracks the repair vehicle could sit on.
First responders cleared the wreckage around 1 p.m. EDT, allowing traffic to move freely along E. Division St. & N 300 E. again.
Norfolk Southern has since launched a formal investigation into the crash.
