South Bend School Board rustee, Stephanie Spivey announced she will resign.
Last month, NewsCenter 16 went to Spivey's home after she missed several board meetings.
Upon arrival, the home appeared vacant and neighbors told us there were moving trucks there in April.
Spivey later told NewsCenter 16 that she was moving to North Carolina, but still lived there. She planned to resign later this month, and promised to be at Monday night's board meeting.
Instead she resigned Monday, citing family health problems. Now, the board has 30 days to appoint a replacement.
“It's something we have to take time to do and we've gone through a lot in the last two to three years that has taken a lot of board member's time, but we'll do it. It's our job,” said Roger Parent, the school board president.
From now until noon Tuesday, June 12, 2012, anyone interested in the position must send a letter to Roger Parent, the school board president.
Then, during an executive session, three candidates will be chosen.
After a few rounds of interviews, one will be chosen.
And then sworn in on july eleventh.
