Witnesses: Stabbing victim pushed out of SUV in South Bend

A man is recovering after he was stabbed in the chest and pushed out of an SUV around 7:30 p.m. Monday night.

Medics decided to perform a "load and go" because of his injuries, where they focus on getting the victim to the hospital as quickly as possible, rather than providing initial treatment at the scene.

Witnesses told police officers the suspects drove down Taylor St. in a black Chevrolet Trailblazer.

Police tell NewsCenter 16 the victim responded well to treatment and is now conscious and talking. Metro Homicide was notified of the incident, but will not investigate because his injuries are not severe enough.

Officers were unable to provide a usable description of the suspects.
