Hundreds of thousands of fans have invaded Indianapolis for Super Bowl XLVI, including plenty from Michiana.
Friday night, a South Bend family of 11 reunited for a super evening.
The Swicks, whose nine kids range from 4 to 22-years-old, got the whole clan together for this "once in a lifetime experience." With two kids already in college in Indianapolis, it just made sense.
"We have a big 15 passenger van," dad Scott explained about how he got the whole family down there.
Big football fans whose kids have attended and will attend South Bend St. Joe, all 11 of the Swicks even "Tebowed" just below the zipline to a huge ovation from fans watching on.
The oldest child, 22-year-old Brendan acts like a 3rd parent. Wrapping up college, he was so happy his family made the trip to Indy to join him.
"It's great," Brendan explains. "I love my family, I love that they came down here for this. I have never seen anything like this before. This whole city has been transformed and its really an incredible experience."
The Swicks weren't there just for the Super Bowl. They had another Super reason.
"Happy birthday dear mom, happy birthday to you!" The 10 others screamed out as Karen Swick shook her head in disbelief.
And how fitting---she's celebrating a pretty unique birthday.
"I'm as old as the Super Bowl!" Karen explains. "46! So I have been getting my picture by all the roman numeral 46's."
"It is definitely one of my cooler birthdays. We just decided lets get everyone together so we can do something that's a once in a lifetime thing to do. We love Indianapolis and everyone here has been great. The volunteers have been super and the little ones have enjoyed it."
And the journey to Indy was a one day trip. The Swicks hit the road late Friday night to return home to South Bend with stories for a lifetime.
