Saturday is the third National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, where the DEA encourages people to dispose of their old or unwanted medications.
Prescription drug abuse is more common than cocaine, heroin, and inhalant abuse combined. Officials say a majority of abused drugs are taken from the family medicine cabinet.
Experts say disposing of the medications properly will help prevent that abuse, as well as environmental contamination.
On Saturday, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., you can drop those expired or unwanted pills, with no questions asked, at several sites in Michiana. Those sites include the Michigan State Police Post in Niles, Dowagiac City Hall, the Indiana State Police Post in Bremen, and the Constantine Police Department. There are several other sites as well; you can find the complete list by clicking here.
