The nation continues to fight an economic battle, and because of this battle, a "super committee" has been formed.
Twelve members of Congress are tasked with slicing one and a half trillion dollars from the deficit.
Michigan Congressman Fred Upton is one of the few selected to be on the committee.
He joined 16 Morning News to discuss the big task of cutting back and what lies ahead.
"We've had a good number of discussions already. Our staffs are working together, and there's a lot of documentation that we can look at already," said Rep. Upton.
"We really do feel like folks across the country are pulling for us to get it together. Now is our chance to focus on a long term result," he said.
