A Penn High School teacher, Stacy McCormack, is being honored by President Obama.
On Tuesday President Obama named 97 mathematics and science teachers as recipients of the prestigious Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.
Teachers are initially selected at the state level. Then winners are picked by a panel of scientistis, mathematicians, and educators.
The teachers will receive their awards in Washington later this month.
This year's awardees teach 7th through 12th grades. Winners receive a $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation to be used at their discretion.
McCormack was the teacher of the year in Indiana for 2011.
