UPDATE: Minivan struck two other vehicles in crash

NewsCenter 16 has learned more about how the Chickaming Township accident on Friday happened and who was involved.

The accident happened around 5:30 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Red Arrow Highway and Sawyer Rd. and sent two people to the hospital.

It appears that a minivan driven by James Hanenburg, 71, swerved across the centerline and hit a pick-up truck driven by Dale Zielke, 25.

After hitting the truck the van slammed into the driver's side of a car driven by Gerald Fechner, 52.

Firefighters used the jaws of life to get Fechner out.

Both Hanenburg and Fechner were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Zielke refused treatment.

Police are still trying to figure out exactly why Henenburg crossed the center line.
