Would you spend $100,000, or more, to fly a matchmaker in from New York City? That's what a Michiana man has done as he tries to land the wife of his dreams.
Matchmaker Janis Spindel isn't releasing the man's name.
Spindel has been featured on a host of national television shows; she's the author of two books; and she says she's been responsible for nearly 1,000 marriages in her career.
She is in town for just a few days to scout out potential wife material for her client, a divorced father of two.
On Tuesday Newscenter 16 followed her around Heritage Square in Granger as she approached females, whom she said are usually attractive, to ask if they are single or if they know people who are.
Spindel also has done a search in Michigan before, and so she's using that database of women to contact them as well.
"This isn't a blind date. This is a potential wife. There's a very big difference,” said Spindel. “And so I will match him with the top two women after interviewing them that I think are appropriate for him. And they go out -- dinner, lunch, whatever -- and see what happens,” she added.
Spindel says she hopes to meet a couple of hundred women on her trip to the area.
One tip she has for the first few dates is to avoid talking about your past baggage, like ex-boyfriends or girlfriends and/or family troubles.
She also suggests people avoid talking politics for the first few dates as well.
