Notre Dame grad shoots for spot on Team USA in Pole Vaulting

Pole vaulter Mary Saxer had a good career at Notre Dame, but now she wants something a whole lot bigger-- a spot on the U.S. Olympic Team.

"To be a member of that Olympic team is going to be so amazing because it's the best track team in the world, so, if you're there, you know that you really earned that."

Saxer looks to qualify for Team USA Sunday afternoon in Eugene, Oregon at the U.S. Track and Field Trials. She must place top three at Olympic trials to make the team. She said feels more than capable of doing what she has to do to make it.

If Saxer makes the team, she'll return to South Bend and continue to train at Notre Dame, as she has for the past several months.

The Olympics begin July 27th and can be seen right here on Channel 16.
