Buying a new Halloween costume every year can get expensive, especially if you have more than one child. But Goodwill has plenty of options to keep your kids happy and your wallet a little fuller.
Tuesday morning on 16 Morning News we were live at the Granger Goodwill where they had racks and racks of pre-made Halloween costumes. From a lion costume for an infant to a witch costume for a teenager, they have something for any age, size and budget.
We also showed you how you can create a costume that's a little more out of the box by combining clothing and props found at Goodwill stores. We came up with "gum on the bottom of a shoe" by dressing in pink pants and a pink shirt and attaching the biggest shoe you can find to the top of your head with string. We also made the "American tourist" costume by finding a loud, Hawaiian print shirt, a fanny pack, visor, sunglasses and a camera.
The Goodwill store in Niles will also be hosting a Halloween event on Saturday, October 8 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
There will be a kid's Halloween fashion parade and free fashion advice provided by local fashion expert Kathy Friend. Kids participating in the fashion parade will be given $15 to find their own costume at Goodwill. If your child is interested in being a part of it, contact the Niles Goodwill store.
The event is free and open to the public, but kids wanting to participate in the fashion parade must sign up ahead of time. A limited number will be accepted.
This year marks the 75th Anniversary for Goodwill Industries of Michiana.
