Dellia Castile's trial delayed, grandchildren's testimony to be reviewed

The grandmother accused of neglecting her grandchildren while leaving them in the hands of her abusive son, Terry Sturgis, appeared in court Tuesday morning.

Dellia Castille, 53, faces three felony counts of neglect of a dependent.

A couple of weeks ago, her son, Terry Sturgis was found guilty in the beating death of his ten year old son, Tramelle.

Tuesday morning The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's office filed an amendment on count two, raising the class B felony to a class A felony.

Also the defense asked to see the transcripts from Terry Sturgis’ trial when all three children testified. The judge granted a continuance giving the defense more time to prepare.

The trial date has been moved from June 18th to October 1st.

Originally the grandmothers’ trial was going to be held during the same week of her son's sentencing.
