The Bethel College men's basketball team had hoops on their minds Saturday but also plenty of charity for those in Haiti.
The Pilots took on Huntington University Saturday afternoon but it wasn't your typical game.
Saturday’s game was in memory of Kip Prenkert, a former Bethel player who was killed in a car accident a year ago.
To honor Kip, Bethel donated $25 for every free throw made by the Pilots to the relief effort in Haiti.
That's not all, a large portion of the gate receipts and concession revenue will also be sent to Haiti.
“We've been wanting to do something along with our basketball game ever since the disaster took place and we knew we had missionaries down there who are Bethel grads and we thought this would be best to honor them,” Athletic Director Mark Lantz said.
The athletic department will be raising money over the next week at various other events to also help support the relief effort in Haiti.
