The Irish women's basketball team jumped out to a 16-0 lead and never looked back, thumping Charlotte 90-31 for the program's most lopsided win in 20 years Sunday at Purcell Pavilion.
The 3rd-ranked Irish are now 10-0 and off to their best start since 2001, when they began the year 23-0 and went on to win the national championship.
Ashley Barlow led the way for Notre Dame with 19 points.
Defense was a key to victory, as the Irish forced a remarkable 43 turnovers. Notre Dame had five different players with at least three steals.
The last time the Irish won a game by a bigger margin was the season opener in 1989 when the crushed Liberty, 113-35. It was also Notre Dame's fewest points allowed since a 66-31 win over St. John's in 2002.
Kaila Turner scored 11 points and Erica Williamson added 10.
Coach Muffet McGraw actually admitted after the game she had no complaints, a statement so rare that guard Skylar Diggins wanted to make sure everyone heard her say that.
Diggins scored 9 points, grabbed six rebounds, dished out five assists and had three steals.
The Irish are off until December 29th when they head to Orlando to face Central Florida.
