The holidays mean family, fun and of course toys. That's what the South Bend American Legion focused its energy on Saturday.
American Legion Post 284 held their fourth annual Toys for Tots drive Saturday.
They teamed up with local police, fire departments, and American Legion Post 357 to make it happen.
It's one of many Toys for Tots drives in our area, and organizers say this year, the need is great.
"We'd love to have more and more gifts every year if possible. But we understand with the economy this year it's been a little slow but as you can see we have about 12 boxes so far, and I think we have six bikes in there right now," American Legion Post 284 Capt. Lenny Genchoff said.
Don't forget, a week from Saturday is NewsCenter 16’s annual Toys for Tots drive.
NewsCenter 16 is teaming up with the Marines to collect toys at several locations throughout Michiana from 7 to 10 a.m.
That's next Saturday, December 5 during 16 Saturday Morning.
