The holiday season is here and that means lots of food and lots of unhealthy foods. Dr. Ronald Downs talks about what you should put on your plate to stay healthy while chowing down.

On average, a traditional Thanksgiving or Christmas meal can have more than 2,000 calories.
That’s more than most people need in an entire day!
So in the spirit of the holiday season and staying healthy, Dr. Ronald Downs shares the top five healthy holiday foods in this week’s “Health & Beauty BreakDowns”.
Pumpkins
- Rich in vitamin A and fiber
- Seeds high in good fats
- Low in calories
Cranberries
- Packed with vitamin C
- Dietary fiber, manganese, antioxidants
- Flavinoids help reduce blood cholesterol
Sweet Potatoes
- Good choice year round
- Antioxidants, vitamin C, beta-carotene
- Potassium, vitamin B6, iron
Turkey
- Excellent source of protein
- High in selenium, niacin, zinc
- Must avoid the skin though
Green Beans
- Low in calories
- Vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese
- Potassium, folate, iron
