Flames engulf back of South Bend home in early morning fire
South Bend, IN Crews were called out to a home in the 1700-block of North Meade Street on South Bend's far northwest side, just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews were called out to a home in the 1700-block of North Meade Street on South Bend's far northwest side, just after 1 a.m. Wednesday.
Pictures, taken by iWitness reporter Christopher Smith, show flames shooting out of the back of the house.
It took crews under two hours to get the blaze under control.
Officials say the house received about $20,000 worth of damage.
No one was inside when the fire started and no one was hurt.
The cause is under investigation.
