A Goshen pharmacy gets in trouble for giving out swine flu vaccinations to
non-priority groups.
Wednesday the Walgreens on State Road 33 in Goshen was holding an swine flu shot clinic when the state health department confiscated 600 doses.
Local doctors in the area complained that the store was giving them out to people not in the priority groups.
Overall doctors were worried about unfair practices during a time when the vaccine is still in short supply.
“I'm thinking it is going to be months rather than weeks before we are going to be able to get outside of those priority groups. The school children in the county, we want to get those kids vaccinated, and the vaccine still feels like it is tricklin’ in rather than gushin’ in,” says Dr. Daniel Nafziger with the Elkhart County Health Department.
The vaccines that were taken away were then re-distributed to other practices in the county.
Walgreens says they have hundreds of other locations that haven't had any other problems and that this was a one time problem.
