Suspicious house fire breaks out in South Bend

A house fire that broke out on the west side of South Bend Tuesday night is being called suspicious.

The blaze broke out around 10:30 p.m. in a home in the 300-block of South Camden Street.

Firefighters say there were two separate fires in the home: one that started in the basement, and another in the living area on the first floor.

An empty gas can was also found in a vacant lot nearby.

Officials are calling the fire suspicious and investigators have been called in to determine the exact cause.

No one was hurt in the blaze, and neighbors say the woman that lives in the home was out of town.
