Many children in the area have started their school year. But not everyone is leaving home to do it!

The Bradley family from Granger has chosen to homeschool their children. The kids do five or more hours of homework every day, but it's not because they have unreasonable teachers. They're homeschooled, all seven of them. Anastasia, Moses, Isaac, Gusti, Maggie, Giles and Francie will all learn right from the comfort of their own home. Which means mom, Angie, has her hands full.

"The work is considerable, especially for the first child because as I plan each child's program I try to do it to cater to what their strengths are and their interests are. But at the same time they all have to do grammar and spelling and math and science and those kinds of things," Angie said.

Angie and her husband had a lot to consider when deciding where their kids should go to school. She said they chose homschooling as a way to keep the family together. But even though they chose homeschooling, the decision still isn't finite for any of the seven. Angie said, "We revisit every year whether it's a good idea for our family, whether it's a good fit for the kids, whether it's right for each of them."

Angie said to her the most important thing is that her children love learning, and because most of the children finish school by noon every day, that the extra time together will help them stay close as a family.

The oldest of the Bradley children, 14 year old Anastasia, had to decide whether or not to go to high school this year. She decided to stay home, so she can work at her own pace.

The Bradleys also take part in different homeschool groups and community sporting events to make sure the children are socially rounded as well as educated.
