He said he was a whistle blower, but today, the suspension of South Bend Police Cpl. Jack Stilp was upheld.
In May, Stilp filed an internal report about a threatening phone call he received from Tim Corbett, the Commander of the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit.
The call appeared to be related to the recent hiring of South Bend Police Chief Darryl Boykins.
When it was discovered that Stilp had shared the internal report with the news media, action was taken to suspend him for a period of five days.
Stilp fought the suspension at a hearing earlier this month, saying he felt the department wasn’t paying attention to his complaint, and that he deserved whistle blower protection.
Today, members of the South Bend Board of Public Safety disagreed, and upheld Stilp’s suspension.
