Details are sketchy, but a South Bend school bus struck a pedestrian this morning at Portage and Elwood.
Police were called to the scene at 7:10 a.m.
Police say a man in his late 50's, wearing dark clothing, was struck while crossing Elwood street as the bus was turning left onto Elwood, from Portage.
Police say the man was taken to the hospital for head pain, but that his injuries were not believed to be serious.
According to a spokesperson for the school corporation, the man was "clipped" in the head by the side mirror of the bus.
Bus #244 was carrying 39 students to LaSalle Intermediate School. None of the children reported injuries. The bus driver will have today and tomorrow off while the circumstances of the accident are reviewed.
