No Cequent decision today

There will be no decision on the fate of the Cequent plant in Goshen announced today.

That from parent company spokesman Al Upchurch of TriMas.
Upchurch says November 19th was actually the company’s deadline to gather information from the city and the union.

He said he didn’t know when a final decision on a possible move to Mexico would be made, only that it wouldn’t be today.

Last month, company officials announced a preliminary decision to move Cequent’s production work from Goshen to Mexico.

Cequent now employs some 450-people at the Goshen plant.

Mike O'Brien with the steelworkers union says he met with company officials on Saturday and asked them to postpone a decision.
